KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — An award-winning taco chain from Columbus, Ohio, will soon open its sixth location in Michigan, and first in Kalamazoo County.
Condado Tacos, which specializes in unique tacos, margaritas and tequilas in a colorful and energetic atmosphere, will be opening at 1750 S. Drake Road in Oshtemo Township on Thursday, Nov. 17.
Located at the Corner at Drake shopping center, next to Nonla Burger and Firehouse Subs, the 4,370 square-foot restaurant will seat 252 total, including 156 in the main dining room, 18 at the bar and 78 on a large outdoor patio, a news release from the company states.
During Condado’s grand opening celebration on Nov. 17, the first 100 guests in line will be awarded with a “Year of Yum,” which includes one free taco per week for the next year, along with limited edition, original, artist-designed T-shirt. Doors will open at 11 a.m. and be followed by a confetti canon celebration.
In addition, all guests who show up for the grand opening will receive a free taco with any purchase and $5 signature margaritas all day long.
“The state of Michigan continues to be a very strong performing area for us and we are excited to open our first location here in Kalamazoo,” said Condado Taco CEO and President Chris Artinian. “At Condado Tacos, we offer a ‘craveable,’ unique and fun full-service dining experience that matches your speed at a great value, under $20 per person.
“We welcome all, and we are proud of our ‘come as you are’ culture and atmosphere in serving our guests an amazing experience that is unparalleled.”
“Craveable, clean, fresh ingredient driven food” is what drives the innovative Condado menu, according to the release.
In addition to the renowned queso, signature taco suggestions including Lucy’s Fire and Blue Dream, both with secret shells, other innovative items such as Korean BBQ, with pulled jackfruit and tequila lime steak, and the limited time offer of Sriracha Butter Chicken Taco and Tater Tots and Mac are also available.
Condado offers tacos for everyone, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, starting at $4.
As a build-your-own taco concept, guests can top a variety of taco shells with their choice of proteins, toppings and sauces. Condado also features a full bar with a large assortment of 100% blue agave tequilas, and specialty and limited time offer margaritas.
Condado Tacos celebrates all of the communities they join by working with local artists to paint the walls of each restaurant with unique, street-art inspired murals from floor to ceiling. For this new Kalamazoo restaurant, Isaiah Williams led a team of 12 local artists as ‘Condado Takes The Stage,’ a shout out to the nearby Kalamazoo State Theatre. The art also pays tribute to the theatre district as a whole.
Condado Tacos was founded in 2014 and now has 39 locations across seven states. The company, founded by Joe Kahn, expects to reach 90-100 restaurants by 2026.
The Kalamazoo County location will be open Sunday-Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to midnight. For more information, visit condadotacos.com or call 269-249-1665.
