Hal’s Hamburgers in Pendleton, Oregon, has been serving burgers to hungry customers since 1952. This iconic drive-in is known all over the state for its ability to invoke nostalgia for times long past, and also for its excellent food. In fact, Hal’s offers more than 20 different burgers on its menu, so there’s something for everyone among them. Some might even say that Hal’s has the best hamburgers in Oregon. Read on to learn more about this special spot.
Hal’s Hamburgers was opened in 1952 by a couple named Hal & Mary. The drive-thru at their restaurant was immediately popular.
Hal & Mary ran the place until 1977 when they sold it to the Spiess family. They’ve owned it ever since.
It hasn’t changed much since the beginning. You can still go through the drive-thru and get food brought to your car at the drive-in. You can also eat inside, but it’s pretty small in there.
If you stop by after dark, you’ll be able to check out this cool neon sign.
When you pull up to order, you’ll be amazed at all the choices. In addition to the twenty burgers on Hal’s menu, there are 40 different shakes, salads, sandwiches, hot dogs, sides, soft serve ice cream, and more.
But the burgers are the main reason why people come to Hal’s. Just look at this juicy beast.
You can choose from hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bacon cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, pastrami burgers, Hawaiian burgers, BBQ burgers, veggie burgers, or numerous others. Everything is priced affordably so maybe you should try a few!
The sides at Hal’s are great, too. The tater tots are perfect.
Fries come in three sizes.
The onion rings are fried to perfection.
And of course, shakes go great with all of it.
